DAGGER
Dating back to 900-600 BC, daggers found in Urartu and fortress excavations are rarely found, and they are seen in Urartian artwork carried by gods, kings, rulers, and warriors. Bronze daggers made using the forging technique from the 13th to the 9th centuries BC from the principalities of Eastern Anatolia are also known. During the Ottoman period, daggers were not only used as tools for defense and war but also symbolized power and prestige. The precious stones, engravings, and natural materials used on the handles and scabbards of daggers reflect the wealth and taste of their owner. Additionally, wearing a dagger on the belt was both a practical and visually impactful accessory, serving as an important symbol of status.
